This excellent vintage was produced in a very hot dry year but has
matured really well to produce a wine with an intense aroma of
perfumed fruits. On the palate there is a magnificent blend of rich
fruits and eastern spices with a ripe choclatey finish.

This wine has aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and sweet spices.
The palate is full and tasty with plenty of sweet fruit, fresh yet
complex. Due to no filtration a small deposit is possible.

This is a great Pinot Noir. Wonderfully balanced berry fruit which is
full and rich with a touch of oak in the finish to add complexity.
30 RUSTENBERG J X MERRIMEN - Stellenbosch – South Africa 2007 £25.00
This is a typical Bordeaux blend but produced in Stellenbosch. Aromas
of spice and red fruit with fine elegant tannins.
31 RIOJA RESERVA – Sierra Cantabria – Spain 2005 £28.50
This is a sensational Rioja packed with ripe berry fruit combined with
hints of toast and vanilla from 18 months maturation in oak casks.

A rich dark wine full of spicy fruit with great balance and a superb red
fruit finish. A great foil to rich and spicy foods.

This wine is only produced in drought years when the vine is working
at its hardest. This produces a hugely concentrated wine with complex
red fruit aromas and a rich spicy and intense finish. Great wine.

Coming from a naturally low producing vintage this wine has layers
of dark red fruits, savoury dried herbs and ripe tannins with a
complex finish.
35 CHATEAU VALROSE – “Cuvee Alienor” St Estephe 2005 £38.50
This tiny property of only 5 hectares produces a ripe and elegant wine
with dark spicy fruit and a complex and rich finish. 2005 was an
outstanding vintage in Bordeaux.
36 EL PUNTIDO – Rioja 2004/05 £42.00
A new style of Rioja produced from a single vineyard and old vines
which produces a rich smooth and elegant wine. On the palate it is
powerfull yet with finesse and a great mineral finish.

Rich in fruit and deep in complex flavours on the palate with big ripe,
chocolatey tannins in the finish.
38 BAROLO – Ciabot Berton 2006 £45.00
The famous wine of the Piemonte. The wine has a ruby red colour
a fresh and lively palate and a rich velvety palate which culminates in
a big finish.
39 RESERVE DE LA COMTESSE – Pauillac 2004 £55.00
The second wine of the great Chateau Pichon Comtesse and made
with the same care. Well structured with plenty of Blackberry and
Blackcurrant fruit, hints of cigar box and firm tannins to balance.

This Chateau is now producing top quality wines and the 2003 vintage has
matured really well. This is a rich full and powerful wine with great depth and
a long smooth finish.

This magnificent wine comes from a lovely vintage which is now
drinking really well. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates with the bouquet
